PhD student,
professional YoYo player,
& photographer
Hello!
I am a PhD student in Engineering at Durham University,
professional YoYo player representing General Yo Team,
and photographer at Expect Miracles PhotographyBased in Durham, England, a cathedral city in the countryside.
Around the world with yoyo
I started playing yoyo back in 2010 when my parents gave one to me Christmas present to distract me from the idea of skateboarding!Since then, I became the first female player to pass into finals in the Russian YoYo Contest (RYYC), and then placed 3rd in the European YoYo Championsip (EYYC'13) in the Women's Division.I am now proud to represent the General-Yo Team.
Researching in Durham
I'm a PhD student in Engineering at Durham University. My research focuses on the development of a new mathematical modelling framework to explore the impact of pressure-induced freezing point depression which demonstrates strong capillary pressure effect within soils. This research is vital for understanding how infrastructure responds in cold regions to sudden or gradual thawing of ice.My educational background is in applied mathematics. I hold a BSc (2018) and MSc (2022) in Mathematics and Mathematical Modelling, from Novosibirsk State University (a leading Russian university in the QS Rankings). I then worked as a junior researcher and was also a member of several research projects, including research grants on multiscale mechanics of flow and failure in disordered porous media.
Photographing and Expecting miracles
We met, we fell in love, and we started doing photography together — this is how my love story with Andrew can be summarised.Together myself and Andrew are "Expect Miracles", a professional photography couple based in Durham, England.Behind every photograph is a unique story which we are eager to tell. Expect Miracles is a journey of discovery, where every image is a chapter in the story of life’s beautiful moments.
